Remembering The Silence ./
Remembering The Silence ./ is an interdisciplinary theater.tanz.PERFORMANCE about the loneliness of individuals in urban environments - loosely based on Murakami's After Dark
With this project, tatraum is creating a new interdisciplinary performance based on Murakami's novel After Dark. Thematically, it focuses on the loneliness of individuals in the big city and the blurring of (media) realities in the modern age. Diffuse spatial structures, shifting projections and an idiosyncratically penetrating camera characterize the scenery. The performance is characterized by dance, acting, expansive projections and a jazz band - all of which trace moments of silence.
Two rooms are installed for the production: a jazz bar including a live jazz band and a white, mysterious bedroom from which a barely perceptible, low-frequency sound emanates and can be physically felt. The result is a play with opacity and concealment on the one hand and penetrating glances on the other. The locations in the performance space are characterized by night-time encounters, attempts at communication and sociable solitude. A special feature of the performance is that the boundary between play, performance and normal bar evening is blurred here.
