Rhythmus spüren

In the organizer's words:

Intensive frame drum course - basics

Feel, understand and play rhythm

This course is aimed at anyone who is interested in music, movement and dance - no previous knowledge is required. On six dates you will learn the basic playing technique in upright style, the Indian rhythm language Konnakol and important aspects of rhythm theory such as subdivision and odd time signatures.

We recommend attending at least four dates, as the course builds on each other in terms of content. Of course, we invite everyone to come along for a taster. Please note, however, that we will continue to work with the material we have learned as long as a permanent group with returning participants is formed.

  • Technique of the frame drum - introduction to the position of the drum and the basic playing technique in upright style.
  • Konnakol - the Indian rhythm language. Konnakol is an effective tool for internalizing rhythm by speaking syllables. Verbalization makes it easier to learn rhythms, play them by heart and understand them structurally.
  • Body coordination and independence - Percussion and percussion instruments require a high degree of coordination. Even if "multitasking" in the true sense of the word is a myth, we specifically train your motor skills. The exercises promote your rhythmic precision and are at the same time a beneficial and enjoyable challenge for your brain and body.
  • Singing and playing - Another form of independence comes from singing and playing at the same time. Rhythms are embedded directly in a musical context and can be experienced holistically.

In addition to the technical and theoretical basis, the focus is on making music together. Playing in a group is inspiring and a valuable experience for your own musical sensibility.
