French musician Roland Cristal has been producing lo-fi techno for several years. He fuses samples from the internet, voices from his childhood and a variety of other wild sounds and vocals. The result is highly rhythmic and captivating tracks with BPMs in excess of 150.
His DIY universe is often reminiscent of Salut C'est Cool. However, some sounds are also reminiscent of the atonal aspect of Mr. Oizo or the no-frills efficiency of Kraftwerk.
Roland Cristal's sound is raw, playful and often deliberately over-the-top - an idiosyncratic mixture of Eurodance aesthetics, distorted techno and absurd sound collage.
Roland Cristal unleashes his full energy potential live: with minimalist equipment, raw sound and visually over-the-top projections, he gets club and festival audiences alike moving. His shows are like a mixture of performance art and dancefloor workout - intense, tongue-in-cheek and completely detached from conventions. The audience experiences a wild mixture of live sampling, pounding beats and a humorous stage show - sweaty, direct and surprising.

After sold-out shows at Lark in Berlin and Hebebühne in Hamburg in February 2025, Roland Cristal will return to German clubs in January 2026 with his "high energy meets inclusive entertainment" show. On this second tour, the French artist will make another stop in Cologne, where he celebrated his German debut at c/o pop in 2023, and will perform in Munich for the first time.
