Ottensen has also been shaped by important personalities for centuries.

One of them was Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724-1803), one of the most important poets of the Enlightenment, who is buried at the Christianskirche. His writings influenced many subsequent generations of poets, including Heinrich Heine (1797-1856), who was a guest of his uncle on the Elbchaussee.

The writer Karl Heinrich Theodor Zeise (1796-1868), who came from the famous Zeise family, was also influenced by Klopstock's ideas and styles. Come along and learn more about these three poets and other famous personalities on our leisurely walk.
