Sandra Chatterjee – Tanzgeschichten

Dancer and choreographer Sandra Chatterjee presents a performance together with students in memory of her teacher.

Ranga Vivekanandan-Barth was an outstanding classical dancer who received great recognition in Sri Lanka and India. In Munich, however, she remained largely unknown - despite her artistic greatness. She died in May 2025.

The evening takes place on the anniversary of Sandra's Rangapravesam, her debut performance (stage debut), which marked the beginning of her professional dancer's life. This teenage performance at the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus was under the precise and inspiring guidance of Ranga Vivekanandan. The performance is a tribute to a teacher who passed on the art of Kuchipudi with great rigor and dedication. It also honors the symbolic meaning of her name:
Ranga - the stage: a place of remembrance, where transitions become visible and tradition remains alive.

This performance honors Ranga's memory and at the same time shows how her art lives on in three generations of dancers.
