Saša Stanišić formulates his very personal invitation to you, dear guests, to his appearance at the Herbstlese:
'You will take something away from me (and I from you too!) at my event, each of you individually and all together. Perhaps even understand something that was unclear to you or, even more interestingly, no longer understand what actually seemed clear. Because it is so important to allow ambiguity, to expose yourself, you will, that is the concept. That is literature: exposing yourself to other perspectives, biographies and topics, thinking and disagreeing and participating in times of know-it-all and concentration on one's own (usually against the other). With my texts, I would like to invite you to look beyond your own well-being, your own body, the image you want to leave behind of yourself in social media. Because your own resentments are rooted deepest where you only encounter yourself and your own kind.
It's good if you come, otherwise I would be alone. And nobody should be alone if they don't want to be.
