Schauspieler Christian Wirmer spielt Jon Fosse »Morgen und Abend«

In Jon Fosse's novel of the same name,"morning and evening" means coming into this world and going out of this world using the example of a simple Norwegian fisherman named "Johannes". The hours of his birth and death are brought to life thanks to Fosse's art of language. But life between these two cornerstones is also revealed to us in fragments of memory, hallucinations and delusions of the dying "Johannes". His parents, his wife, his first love, his daughter, his best friend appear: The scenes are not ordered in time, they overlap like dreams; as one image emerges from another in the stream of consciousness, one association evokes the next. So we look through a kaleidoscope at a hard, yet fulfilled life and perhaps, like John, sense the sacredness of life as part of creation.

Jon Fosse, born in 1959 in the Norwegian coastal town of Haugesund and raised on the Hardangerfjord, first published the novels "Melancholie", "Morgen und Abend" and "Das ist Alise" in German. For his prose work "Trilogy", he was awarded the Nordic Council Prize for Literature in 2015, the most prestigious literary prize in Scandinavia.

Christian Wirmer played in permanent ensembles for 20 years, most recently at the Staatstheater Hannover, the Theater Basel and the Staatstheater Darmstadt; guest roles have taken him to the Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Hannover, the Staatsoper Stuttgart and the Schauspielhaus Bochum, among others. He usually performs his solo programs on smaller stages and at special venues outside the theaters.
