Open-air castle concerts by the Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra as part of "Tacheles 2026 - Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony". The Saxon Wind Philharmonic and singer Ethel Merhaut will bring the diversity of Jewish music from the 1920s and 1930s to life at the open-air castle concert.

The Saxon Wind Philharmonic has put together a very special project for the Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony. A concert with songs and texts by predominantly Jewish composers who had a strong influence on the culture of the 1920s and 1930s. It is a reminder of the exciting music scene of the 1920s until the National Socialists seized power. The program is a narrative behind which biographical stories and fates are hidden. Be it Henry Love, who composed the famous "Alte Lied" under a male pseudonym, Werner Richard Heymann, who was fired by the UFA and composed film music for Ernst Lubitsch in the USA, Hermann Leopoldi, who miraculously survived the Buchenwald concentration camp and translated his "Café in Hernals" into English in America. The same goes for Fritz Löhner-Beda, who was captured on the run and later murdered.

The singer Ethel Merhaut, who has Russian-Jewish roots, is an integral part of the young Viennese music scene and is no longer an insider tip internationally. With great charm and musical dedication, she dusts off chansons, foxtrots, film music and tangos from the 1920s and 30s as well as Yiddish songs by the composers and lyricists of the time. In addition to her singing skills, Ethel Merhaut is also a witty, charming presenter.

Please note: The event area is only partially suitable for wheelchair users. It is recommended to switch to the concert on 12.06.26 at the Taucha manor house or on 20.06.26 on the lake stage at the Biedermeier beach (same program).
