Guest in the "Body Talks" series: author Rabea Weihser
In cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education
In her book How we became so beautiful,Rabea Weihser takes us from the big eyes of the pharaohs to the smooth surfaces of social media beauties and presents us with her biography of the face. Because nothing captivates our gaze like a face: is it friendly, open, beautiful? Without make-up, edited, disfigured? Does it attract us, does it repel us? And why?
On this evening, we want to find out how people make themselves up and what this tells us about our desires, but also about the society in which we live.
Rabea Weihser, born in 1981, was head of the culture department at Zeit Online until 2021. She is now an author living in Berlin. Wie wir so schön wurden (Diogenes, 2025) is her first non-fiction book.
