Here, humans dance with their artificial doppelgangers and explore the fear of possibly encountering a better version of themselves.
Like God or the gods, we humans create artificial intelligences and humanoid robots. Current scientific advances in the fields of genetic engineering, AI and robotics mean that the topic of doppelgangers is booming. Fascinated by the possibility of being overtaken by the spirits we have summoned, we are moving towards singularity as if we can hardly wait to abolish ourselves. Is man an obsolete system? In "Replik_A", the 'uncanny valley' emerges as a concrete place on stage, populated by dolls, avatars and a robotic humanoid, all doppelgangers of the human protagonist. Disturbed and fascinated at the same time, he dares to take a look behind the mirror, at the back of himself, in order to learn to be creeped out by the sight of his shadow, his other self, his dark twin.

Since 2003,MEINHARDT & KRAUSS has been made up of the puppeteer/director Iris Meinhardt, the director/video artist Michael Krauss and the composer/musician Thorsten Meinhardt. The Stuttgart-based company skillfully merges high-tech and poetry, virtuality and the body to create its own theatrical language. The independent ensemble has now traveled to national and international festivals in over 15 countries with its productions and is delighted to have received various awards, including the "Grünschnabel" in 2006, the "Swiss Prize for Innovative Young Theatre" and a nomination for the "George Tabori Award" in 2015.
