Turkish singer-songwriter Selin Sümbültepe will be stopping off in Rems Valley as part of her 2026 European tour. With her unmistakable fusion folk-pop, she brings sounds from the Middle East into dialog with Western pop aesthetics - a sound that is both familiar and surprisingly new.
With her unmistakable fusion folk-pop, Turkish artist Selin Sümbültepe weaves together melodies from the Middle East with Western pop aesthetics, creating a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition. In 2024, she released her EP Hemhal ("Unite"), produced by Lebanese indie and world music pioneer Zeid Hamdan. "Hemhal" is a vibrant homage to the rich culture of Hatay, her home region in south-eastern Turkey, which was hit by a devastating earthquake in 2023. By returning to her roots, Selin wanted to get closer to what she had lost as a result of this natural disaster.
Selin Sümbültepe loves and is influenced by artists such as Fairuz and Yasmin Hamdan, the two divas from Lebanon, Naissam Jalal, the inspiring flutist, as well as the Turkish icons Bariş Manço and Aysel Gürel, the great lyricist. Celebrated for her captivating live performances, Sümbültepe has played at major festivals across Turkey and brought her music to international stages in 2025 with performances at the RIMM Festival in Sfax (Tunisia), the Festival Músicas do Mundo in Sines (Portugal) and the Jazzhane Festival in Zurich. In the fall of 2025, Selin Sümbültepe embarked on her first European tour, marking the beginning of a journey that will take her to stages around the world in the years to come.
