Munich, September 5, 1972 - on the tenth day of competition at the Summer Olympics. At 4:40 am, employees of the American broadcaster ABC hear gunshots from the Olympic Village: Palestinian terrorists have taken eleven Israeli athletes hostage.
Despite the resistance of their news department, the ABC sports team reports live on the 21-hour hostage-taking. Geoff, a young producer, takes over the live broadcast with German interpreter Marianne. With time running out and the hostages' lives at stake, Geoff has to make difficult decisions and grapple with his moral compass.
In his award-winning, chamber drama-like thriller "September 5", director Tim Fehlbaum tells the gripping and intense story of the terrorist attack on the Israeli team by Palestinian terrorists. The action is consistently portrayed from the perspective of an American sports television team that has to switch from sports reporting to political news on this fateful day. The film also raises fundamental questions about the moral responsibility of the media.
