Shaking Hands With Ghosts

The walk leads across the site of the former AG Weser shipyard, now Waterfront. The dramatic closure of the shipyard in 1983 became a myth, fueled by a great longing for solidarity and meaningful, identity-creating work. Today, there is virtually nothing to indicate the site's past. On this journey through time, ghosts from the past, present and future shake hands. Fleeting, shadowy, fed by the power of collective memories and longings. It is about the changing concept of work and our own relationship to the subject of work. The author of the play, Katrin Bretschneider, has close ties to the location. Her parents met on the AG "Weser". Her personal experiences as a shipyard worker's child also flow into the story.
