Silent Book Night zur Museumsnacht 2026

What's quieter than a library? That's right, a library at night! 🌃

For the first time, the Silent Book Club Chemnitz and Chemnitz City Library are organizing the Silent Book Night to coincide with Chemnitz Museum Night. Up to 60 guests will have the city library all to themselves on this evening: to read silently, swap books, borrow books and take part in our first book swap event!

And best of all: the event is 100% free of charge! You don't even need a ticket for the Museum Night to take part in the Silent Book Night.

• from 18:30: Admission
• 19:00: Introduction, arrival and opportunity to hand in your book for the book swap campaign
• 19:30: Silent Reading Hour
• from 20:30: Exchange and book swapping

In the library there will be the opportunity to buy and enjoy coffee specialties and hot drinks from the wonderful Café Bloom Boom. In front of theTIETZ there will also be the opportunity to use the central catering of the Museum Night.

How the book swap works:

• Choose a book that you like and that should find a new home
• Make it a book blind date: wrap it in paper, whether wrapping paper, baking paper or the (dry) advertising newspaper from the paper bin
• Write three keywords on the cover that can give you a little orientation when choosing, e.g. "Fantasy, dragons, cozy"
• Attention: Please do not write down the title or author - it should remain a surprise!

Secure up to two places per person registering now from our advance contingent. There will also be the opportunity to drop by spontaneously in the evening. However, people with tickets have priority; without tickets, the queue decides.
