About the performance:
How does artificial intelligence change the relationship between "master" and "tool"? Where does the human end and the machine begin? And how do new technologies influence our perception and interaction with the world? The audiovisual performance "umbra" and the accompanying workshops invite the audience to find their own answers to questions about identity and consciousness in the digital age.
The musician and performer Chi Him Chik plays with his self-developed improvisation machine Aiii and the multimedia instrument Type-0《零式》. At the same time, media artist Slava Romanov creates images that appear like digital shadows on a moving, transparent canvas. Movements, sounds and light react to each other in real time - a continuous interplay between reality and digital mirror image.
The piece will be accompanied by free workshops with the artists on Sat 6.12. from 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00. More information coming soon.
About the performers:
Chi Him Chik oscillates between identities and artistic practices. The Hong Kong-born media artist and performer draws his inspiration from reflections of conflict, dilemma, pain and chaos on a personal, social and political level. He combines skills, knowledge and aesthetics from various fields and genres. The spectrum of his artistic languages gives rise to unique performative experiences.
Slava Romanov is a Bremen-based data artist and multimedia developer, originally from the Urals, Russia. He designs interactive systems that translate complex questions, stories and emotions into visual and spatial experiences in real time. With a background in law and digital media, his internationally exhibited work explores language, memory and socio-political processes, questioning the oppositions of chaos/order, simplicity/complexity, analysis/speculation and man/machine.
