New ground for neo-soul: singer NI-KA and pianist Jona Heckmann are launching SOIL - a concert series for all those who want more than the usual. From September 18, the excellent-sounding concert hall of the Bonifatiuskirche will be transformed once a month into a place where genre boundaries dissolve and a common pulse emerges.
Each edition brings in new guest artists and combines their influences with the energy of the up-and-coming Frankfurt scene. The sound of SOIL. NI-KA moves between neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz and experimental music.
NI-KA, who is considered the most exciting newcomer in her genre, combines elegant soul melodies with urban depth in her music. She has been living in Frankfurt for six years and has been shaping the city's stage landscape with her unmistakable style for three years.
Her musical companion Jona Heckmann, jazz pianist, arranger and composer, is the founder of the Urban Art Orchestra - a formation consisting of a rhythm section, brass section and string quartet. Together they created an independent sound on NI-KA's debut album "Anni", and now they want to create something new.
Their vision becomes audible: only with SOIL. Guest Artists:
redd. (vocals)
Bright Osei (bass)
Julian Braun (drums)
