In the organizer's words:

All proceeds from the evening will go to HAKI e.V. and the "Stumbling Stones in the North" project. Together, we are setting an example for remembrance, education and social responsibility. The aim is to lay a stumbling block in memory of people who were persecuted and murdered during the National Socialist era because of their sexual orientation.

In cooperation with the Werkstatt 20. Jahrhundert / Zentrum zur Geschichte Kiels, numerous individual fates are being researched in order to make the stories of those affected visible and to give them back their names and identity.

Thanks to the donations from last year, three new Stolpersteine can already be laid in Kiel in the fall of 2026 - another important step for the local culture of remembrance.

Each Stolperstein is dedicated to a person who died as a result of the violence of National Socialism. The Europe-wide project by artist Gunter Demnig now comprises over 116,000 stones in more than 1,860 municipalities and in 31 other countries. In Kiel, too, around 270 Stolpersteine already commemorate the victims.

The stones, measuring around ten by ten centimetres, bear a brass plate with the names and dates of life of the victims and are set into the pavement in front of their last freely chosen place of residence. They are financed exclusively by private donations.

With this evening, we would like to set an example together: Against forgetting - for a worthy remembrance.
