Jörg Widmann: The String Quartets I-V

"Today, you can no longer just write for connoisseurs and colleagues," says Jörg Widmann, who has been causing a sensation with his works for decades. "For me, the main drive to compose always comes from emotion. And so far I've been lucky that my pieces have been played in concert subscriptions as well as in Donaueschingen." Widmann is a universal musician as a composer, clarinettist and conductor.
