To kick off the Advent season, the award-winning male choir ensemble Sonat Vox invites you to a festive Christmas concert in the Egidienkirche (St. Egidien) in Nuremberg on the 1st Advent (Sunday, November 30, 2025) at 5:00 pm - under the musical direction of Justus Merkel. The renowned choir - winner of the German Choir Competition 2018 and 1st prize winner of the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf 2022 - is returning home after recent successes: as recently as November 2025, Sonat Vox won several awards at the international choir competition in Tolosa, Basque Country, including the coveted Audience Award.

The evening's program presents an atmospheric cross-section of Advent and Christmas choral music. With classical a cappella works and contemporary compositions, the singers want to get their audience in the mood for the Christmas season. The unmistakable sound of Sonat Vox, characterized by balance, clarity and expressiveness, promises a special concert experience in the festive atmosphere of the baroque Egidienkirche.

As a special highlight, Markus Kumpf will enrich individual pieces on the organ, so that in addition to pure a cappella singing, organ sounds will also fill the Egidienkirche. The 22 singers of Sonat Vox, all former Windsbach choir members, inspire with their precise and homogeneous voices and are now among the best male choirs in Germany. Since it was founded in 2015 by Justus Merkel, the ensemble has won numerous prizes and accolades at home and abroad - from national competitions to recent international awards.

The concert is organized by the ensemble itself (Sonat Vox Freundeskreis e.V.).
