Two thousand police officers against two hundred tree squatters in an ancient forest in the middle of Germany that is to make way for a highway. The political and legal struggle against the construction of this highway has been going on for forty years, but now the state has decided to push it through on behalf of the federal government - against all opposition.The drama surrounding the clearing of the Dannenröder forest forms the central theme of a film about the young generation's disappointed hopes for a better future. It revolves around their growing anger, the ignorance of politics in the face of the greatest crisis that has ever befallen humanity, and the seemingly indestructible power of capital interests over the alleged intentions to build a sustainable future.
