In the organizer's words:

"Sor Juana's Dream" is an interdisciplinary project about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz - Mexican poet, thinker and rebel.

At the center of this concert is her best-known work Primero Sueño - a text full of longing for knowledge, freedom and light, written at a time when women were mostly condemned to silence.

Sor Juana dedicated her life to faith, literature, science - and the fight for equality. Her voice still resonates today.

Marsyas Baroque opens a window into this distant, yet astonishingly contemporary world: Sor Juana's powerful prose from 17th century Mexico meets early music by female composers of her time, new compositions, drama and light art.
