In the organizer's words:

Colonial history and Düsseldorf? What do they have to do with each other? We approach these questions on a historical walk. Industrialization and an increasingly globalizing economy shaped Düsseldorf and the region in the 19th century. Influential players were already entangled in global economic networks decades before the colonial expansion of the German Empire. People from areas under colonial rule also came to Düsseldorf and shaped life here. Some places in the city still tell stories today, from the imaginations of some members of the provincial estates to the colonial agitation of the (local) economic bourgeoisie."
