SPIELART Festival: YOLDAŞ – FRAUEN, DIE EINANDER HALTEN

In the organizer's words:

World premiere

"We were the ones who made BMW what it is today," says Emine Ulusen, who worked at the BMW plant in Munich for 38 years. Together with Evgenia Karakolidis and Anayurt Kırımlı, she belongs to the first generation of guest workers in Germany. They are "Yoldaş" - friends and companions. The majority of their lives took place at the BMW plant, where they experienced times of speechlessness, mental exhaustion and hard physical labor. The singer Nihan Devecioğlu grew up as the granddaughter of workers of Turkish origin in the vicinity of the plant. Now she creates a poetic-musical space for memories - of her own childhood in Munich in the 1980s and of the women whose work has remained invisible to this day. Women's voices, combined with the sound of machines and documentary film footage, form a lively collage of contemporary history - and at the same time become an expression of self-empowerment and female solidarity.
