Sprache der Vielfalt. STEREOTYPE ERKENNEN & ÜBERWINDEN // Workshop und Lesung mit Diana Dua

In the organizer's words:

Words can divide or connect. Reading & workshop with Diana Dua aka @schreibgold_hh make deeply rooted stereotypes visible and open up space for empathy, a change of perspective and a language of togetherness.

Why this workshop?

Our language influences how we see the world, how we think and how we interact with each other. At a time when populism is deepening social divisions and stoking fears, conscious, respectful communication is more important than ever. What images do our words convey? How do we expose our own stereotypes and prejudices? Which discriminatory terms shape our vocabulary? This workshop shows how we can use language to build bridges and strengthen the idea of democracy.

Why the reading concept?
The reading and workshop work together. The "Lines against discomfort" are an ongoing collection of poetic microtexts and short stories about racism, identity and belonging. The reading opens up an emotional space and raises awareness for the subsequent discussion of language, stereotypes and discriminatory structures. It creates an open atmosphere for discussion that invites people to think further.
