Stadtbesetzung STADT – PARK

The Viersen artist, designer and cultural educator Garvin Dickhof has created an artistic link between the inner city and the SchlossPARK and Orangerie. With the help of building blocks and cardboard boxes, he brings objects and places in the urban space into focus and makes them tangible in a new way. Two partly interactive art actions will be presented:

The popular herd of pigs on Otto-Wels-Platz will be temporarily rebuilt with up to 10,000 wooden building blocks as part of the city's "Kulturkilometer" campaign. This will change the view of art in public space, break with viewing habits and bring about a change of perspective.

"WanderWall" 06.09.2025 from 3 pm

The interactive art installation focuses on borders, change and community. A temporary wall made of 300 cardboard boxes crosses the urban space with the help of the public - from Rathausplatz to the underpass to the orangery in the Schlosspark - and invites people to reflect on the question: What boundaries determine our lives and how can we shift or overcome them?

The art event is funded by the state from the STADTBESETZUNG project as well as from the municipal cultural fund through the cultural office of the city of Herten.
