Fairy tales and legends in Frederick's time

On the last weekend in August, Greifswald once again awakens to a journey back in time to the Romantic era. This year, the town festival has the motto "Fairy tales and legends in Frederick's time" and takes its visitors into a magical world full of fantasy and mysticism.

At the heart of the festival, on the historic market square, a fairytale forest will be created with impressive backdrops and atmospheric staging, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of old tales. Musicians, storytellers and acting troupes bring long-forgotten legends back to life and show romance in a whole new light. Fairy tales and legends have always been closely associated with the idea of healing and inner strength - the magical forests, mysterious healers and mystical places of the old tales reflect the pursuit of health and spiritual renewal.

The forecourt of the Pomeranian State Museum picks up on this theme and is dedicated entirely to health and spirituality - aspects that also deeply moved Caspar David Friedrich and found expression time and again in his works. His paintings reflect the confrontation with illness and transience, characterized by reverence for nature and its creator.

In keeping with this, visitors can look forward to a tent entitled "Your Healing Place", in which peace and relaxation take center stage, just like in the legends about magical healing fountains and miraculous recovery. Another tent invites visitors to be pampered with massages to bring body and mind into harmony. Greifswald University Medicine will also be represented with an informative stand, offering exciting insights into the historical and modern art of healing - a bridge between the traditional wisdom of fairy tales and today's knowledge of healing and well-being.

In addition to the historical fair with arts and crafts, culinary delights and interactive hands-on activities, guests can look forward to a unique experience that sheds new light on the era of Romanticism through fairy tales, legends and the pursuit of healing.
