If you want freedom, you have to know its limits

What sounds paradoxical at first is a foundation of the democratic constitutional state. Because within democracy, freedom means taking responsibility for ensuring that it is preserved. Above all, this means fulfilling the duties that go hand in hand with one's rights.

The philosopher Dr. Carmen Krämer sees herself personally fulfilling this duty by taking on a political office. She has been mayor of her hometown of Monschau since July 2022 and therefore puts this basic idea into practice. This talk will focus on her experiences in her town and how she perceives the relationship between freedom and responsibility in her everyday life.
