Wounds that will never heal

April 1945: Shortly before the end of the war, 71 prisoners are taken to the Wenzelnberg for execution. Shortly afterwards, a young soldier involved in the massacre tries to desert and dies on the Müngsten Bridge in Solingen.

Five years pass, during which the people of the Bergisches Land gradually get used to normality again. Memories of the terrible war are fading fast. Then the aspiring journalist Edith Hartkop senses a hot story: in Solingen, the pastor Magnus Eichenlaub is attracting attention with miraculous healings. Edith thinks it's all just lazy magic - even after she witnesses a healing service in which blind broom maker Ben Laddach regains his sight thanks to Magnus' prayers.

Edith investigates - and soon realizes that illness, healing and unatoned guilt from the war years seem to be closely linked. This suspicion is confirmed when Ben Laddach narrowly escapes an assassination attempt one day ...
