Our ancestors have known for centuries that wintertime holds a very special energy. Singer-songwriter Stefanie Boltz is particularly fond of the winter solstice: when the long nights get shorter, people huddle together by the fireplace and enjoy the hibernation, while the anticipation of spring gently awakens.
Numerous songs and compositions have been shaped by the many faces of winter. In Gordon Lightfoot's "Song For A Winter's Night", it is the longing to share the stillness of the night and the warmth of the fire with his love. In "Christmas Card From A Hooker", Tom Waits describes the transfigured retrospection of a prisoner and her view of the light at the end of the tunnel. The established singer has secured top-class collaborators for the realization of these and many other song gems - also from her own pen. With Martin Kursawe on guitar and Flo Hupfauf on double bass, she merges into a homogeneous trio that breathes together but can also shine individually.
