The Middle East has been characterized by political and social tensions for decades.

In a collaboration between the Hamburg song festival NORDLIED and the Hamburg State Center for Political Education, political reflection and musical encounters will be combined in a double evening.

Panel discussion "Perspectives on Iran and Israel"
The panel discussion brings together two outstanding voices:
Ahmad Mansour, psychologist, author and internationally sought-after expert on the prevention of extremism, and Prof. Dr. Katajun Amirpur, Islamic scholar at the University of Cologne and one of the most distinguished experts on Iran in Germany. Under the moderation of Birgit Langhammer (NDR), they will discuss the current situation
and place historical developments in a wider social context.

Concert and get-together
Following the discussion, the Iranian-Canadian composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Golnar Shahyar, the Israeli mezzo-soprano Hagar
Sharvit, who enjoys an international reputation particularly in the field of lieder singing, and the distinguished Hamburg pianist Burkhard Kehring will engage in a musical dialog,
which does not conceal opposites, but opens up new spaces for empathy and encounter.
