As part of the Voices Against Violence project of the Intercultural Think Tank, the BGST Istanbul theater group is bringing the moving and powerful production "A Woman Awakens" to the stage. The bilingual play deals with the themes of self-discovery, emancipation and social change and is performed in Turkish with German surtitles. It tells the story of a woman who goes against social norms and finds her own path to self-determination. The performance impressively highlights the courage it takes to break away from traditional structures and form one's own identity.
The evening will be accompanied by an open writing workshop in the afternoon, where the participating women can contribute their own thoughts, voices and texts.
