Stoffgeschichten. Über global bewegte Materialien

In the organizer's words:

Fashion moves us all - every day!

But fashion is not just fashion. "Fast fashion" means that clothes are designed at lightning speed and sold cheaply - but often at the expense of people and the environment, especially in countries of the Global South.

We want to take a closer look! From Friday, August 29 to Sunday, September 21, 2025, the exhibition "Stoffgeschichten - Über global bewegte Materialien" will open its doors at Villa Metzler (next to the Museum Angewandte Kunst).

What is actually behind cotton, leather, wool, polyester & co. How are these materials created, what traces do they leave behind - and what sustainable alternatives are there? The exhibition takes you on an exciting journey around the world of textiles - from classic fabrics to materials of the future.

Workshops and guided tours invite you to see fashion with different eyes and become active yourself - for more sustainability in everyday life!

The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Akademie Mode&Design (AMD) in Munich and has already visited various locations in Germany as a traveling exhibition. Its main aim is to encourage people to think and motivate them to experience fashion more consciously.

There is a clothes swap pole on site: bring along well-preserved and freshly washed clothes, swap them and be happy!

The free exhibition is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from September 4 to 21 from 12 noon to 6 pm.
