Striezelmarkt Dresden | Eröffnungsgottesdienst mit dem Dresdner Kreuzchor

The most wonderful time of the year is knocking at the door, and we cordially invite you to celebrate the start of the 591st Dresden Striezelmarkt with a unique, reflective moment! On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 15:00, the majestic Kreuzkirche will open its doors for our festive ecumenical service. Let us pause together before the colorful hustle and bustle on the Altmarkt begins.

This worthy prelude will be a real treat for your heart and ears. The Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Dresdner Kapellknaben under the direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann and Domkapellmeister Christian Johannes Bonath, whose voices bathe the church in heavenly splendor, will perform. This ensemble will be supported by the talented choir of the Auferstehungskirche Dresden Plauen under the direction of church music director Sandro Weigert. You can also listen to the majestic sound of cathedral organist Sebastian Freitag and cruciform organist Holger Gehring on the organ. The contemplative liturgy will be spoken by diocesan youth chaplain Michael Kreher and priest Holger Milkau.
