Stück aus Holz

In the organizer's words:

After the storm comes the heat, then the bark beetle. The four foresters at the Stückholzenroden forestry department have just finished cleaning up when they have to start again. All the beetle wood has to be removed from the forest. They clear and clear. During the day and also at night because of the heat. They bravely make their way through their chopped-up sentences to create a tidy, clear, easily accessible text. Reinforcements are called in. A new road is built to remove the logs. When Forstenforst Landesland changes its strategy after three years, a gigantic open space has already been created in the fight against the beetle. What to do? Or is it better to do nothing?

Calamity areas also appear in the text. There is helplessness, forester Javor gets lost in a long sentence from which he can no longer get out. STOP! The new strategy is called "diversity". Forester Sylvia, who was previously forced to do all sorts of unpleasant tasks such as further training, is appointed forester for environmental protection against her will. Surprisingly, she then lands a grant to refrain from forestry measures. People applaud. But doing nothing is not so easy. Or as former district manager Wolfgang doesn't understand:

"For me, nature alone makes no sense
For me, it has to be a human being
For people"

Felicia Zeller, a specialist in economics and administrative madness, devotes her new text to the German forest. It is not only very entertaining, but also shows how hopeless the situation actually is. Stück aus Holz (UA) is her first work for the Staatstheater Kassel, but not her first collaboration with director Marie Bues. Stück aus Holz will be the fifth text by Felicia Zeller to be staged under the direction of Marie Bues. Bues is known for her experimental contemporary theater practices and her close collaboration with contemporary playwrights. She has been a member of the management team at Schauspielhaus Wien since the 23/24 season.
