Stephan von Bothmer: Best of Silent Film Concert
Films by Charlie Chaplin, Stan & Olli, Buster Keaton and the Little Rascals
Another screen and a grand piano on stage. The lights go out and Stephan Graf v. Bothmer brings four of the best silent films by Stan & Olli, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and The Little Rascals back to life with his music in the Kulturkirche Altona, giving the audience a cheerful and humorous evening. Live on the grand piano and congenial virtuosity: concert & movie at the same time - a grandiose spectacle full of wit and good humor for the whole family.
This timeyou can see and hear:
The Scarecrow (Buster Keaton)
"The Scarecrow" is one of Keaton's best films. In just 20 minutes, he manages to send us into raptures and uproarious laughter at the same time. As is so often the case, it is about the competition between men for a girl, with Keaton disguising himself as a scarecrow. This movie alone is a feast!
The Count (Charlie Chaplin)
Chaplin acts as a fake count here. The scene in which he tries to eat a slice of melon alone is worth living for.
Early toBed (Stan & Olli)
Sitting on a park bench in the morning, Olli opens a letter informing him of the death of his uncle, who leaves him his estate and all his riches. Together with Stan, he sets off for the new manor house, Hardy Manor. There, Stan becomes his personal butler.
As a result, the two get into breakneck situations time and again - as you would expect - and sow chaos and destruction in abundance. Whether it's the water fountain, the stately home furnishings, lots of crockery and, last but not least, a birthday cake. Nothing is safe from these two chaotic characters.
Noisy Noises (The Little Rascals)
A silent movie about too much noise, wonderful! Joe suffers from a nasty toothache, but at the same time has to look after his little brother Rupert, who is constantly crying. All the well-intentioned and very creative attempts by the assembled rascals to eliminate the sources of noise and calm the little one down fail miserably - of course.
Stephan Graf v. Bothmer accompanies the films with the film music he has composed specifically for each film in a pointed and virtuoso manner and not only manages to bring the comedy of the characters and situations to life, but also explores the depth of the films with their thought-provoking moments. "He doesn't set to music what he sees, but captures in sound what the film wants to say." (Handelsblatt).
To date, he has delighted over 250,000 guests on five continents with his silent film concerts. Laughter connects - everywhere and worldwide.
With live film music and moderation
