A special kind of concert and reading during Advent
One voice. One piano. And in between countless nuances full of warmth and devotion, simplicity and opulence. Elena Janis and Wolfgang Torkler are SUND YARD.
With her voice, she builds bridges from old German folk songs to modern song jazz. With his piano playing, he weaves the perfect tapestry of sound for this touching voice. Familiar Christmas tunes such as "Es kommt ein Schiff, geladen", "Oh du Fröhliche" and "Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen" can be heard in such devoutly simple versions that it is a pleasure to be taken along on this timeless musical flight. A special treat is a small selection of texts by Erich Kästner from the cycle "The 13 Months" set to music by Wolfgang Torkler and a text by Joachim Ringelnatz, which fit wonderfully into the overall picture of the atmospheric old Christmas carols. This can also be heard on CD. With their program "Weihnachtslieder - Christmas Songs", the duo went on a release tour of castles, churches and theaters throughout Germany in winter 2018/19.
At the live concert experience, selected stories about Advent, the quieter and less well-known ones, read by Elena Janis, form the atmospheric foundation.
This creates a precious moment of contemplation and pause in the midst of the snow flurries and the hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas period.
It fascinates and touches even the most hidden wintry heart.
