Susana Donis Mohr: Shimmer of depth
Susana on her artistic concept: "In my artworks I explore the subtle, often hidden nuances behind powerful worlds of color. The works are created with acrylic paints on Italian cardboard and are applied using a palette knife technique. The use of metallic colors creates an iridescent sheen that brings the surface to life and leads the viewer into another dimension of interpretation.
For me, nuances are not just small deviations or fine details - they are what lies behind the obvious. In my pictures, behind the powerful colors lies a quiet sense of foreboding, a subtle feeling. The metallic accents act like flashes of light or reflections of inner states - they open up the space for subjective interpretations, memories, sensations.
The texture of the spatula technique reinforces this depth: layer after layer of paint is applied over the surface, capturing light, breaking it up, releasing it again - and making the surface vibrate. This creates emotional spaces that oscillate between reality and inner perception.
