To mark the 100th anniversary of Friedrich Ebert's death, a staged reading invites you on an exciting journey into the early years of German democracy. Just a few days after the death of the first democratically elected head of state, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation was founded in 1925 - with the aim of strengthening democracy and social justice.

The reading tells of the turbulent period of the Weimar Republic, in which hopes, uncertainties and political conflicts shaped the lives of many people. Friedrich Ebert, his comrades-in-arms and also his opponents have their say in letters, speeches and testimonies. The stories of the first scholarship holders, for whom the foundation provided education and new opportunities, are also told.

The actors Anna Beetz and Alexander Steindorf bring these voices to life on stage. The "Trio d'anches" with Rebecca Mertens (bassoon), Julia Puls (clarinet) and Vera-Isabel Volz (oboe) will provide the perfect musical backdrop.
