Tag der Steige 2026

That's when the big hiking event for everyone will take place for the third time under the motto "Essen hikes on" around the "Kettwiger PanoramaSteig": The "Day of the Steige". The focus will be on the picturesque old town of Kettwig and the beautiful scenery around the Ruhr.

As in the past two years, in which around 10,000 participants took part in each event, the same applies to this year's hiking event: come along, grab a "Tag der Steige" hiking map, choose your route and join in for free. Once again, there are five different routes to choose from for all ages and fitness levels. You decide where you want to start and end your route. The only important thing is that you pass all the stamping points along your route and have the stamps placed on the "Tag der Steige" hiking map. At the end, you will receive a hiking pin as a reward, and children can look forward to a medal. But what counts above all is the fun of hiking together. So, put on your hiking boots and head off to the "Day of the Steige" in the hiking paradise of Essen.
