TaKeTiNa® rhythm pedagogy combines thousands of years of "rhythm knowledge" from different cultures with the latest findings in music, cybernetics, communication, brain research and chaos theory. This innovative method promotes a new form of learning and self-awareness.

The TaKeTiNa process

In the TaKeTiNa process, the body becomes the instrument. Participants are guided simultaneously into three different rhythm levels:

• The step level: stabilized by the pulse of a bass drum.
• The clapping level: Contrasting rhythms are created in the hands.
• The call-response vocal level: is accompanied by a Brazilian berimbau and illuminates musical energy points in the steps, hands and spaces in between.

The dynamics in the rhythm circle

Groove and chaos phases arise in the interplay of stabilization and destabilization. Participants can fall out of the rhythm while the groove continues to pulsate in the group. This process allows everyone to effortlessly get back into the groove at any time.

The TaKeTiNa process overrides controlling thinking, calms the inner critic and allows intuition to take over. Participants enter the present moment, where presence and pure joie de vivre emerge.

Learning together for everyone

In the rhythm circle, both musicians and people with no previous musical experience can learn in their own time and enrich each other. It is always possible to drop a level or disconnect while remaining connected while lying, sitting, walking or dancing.

In TaKeTiNa, musical learning is always also a human learning process. The challenges in life are reflected as musical-rhythmic problems and can be transformed through rhythmic-musical work.
