Tanzgastspiel: Combat des lianes

In the organizer's words:

Combat des lianes means "battle of the lianas". Lianas are plants that climb up trees and hunt for light. They snake their way through the rainforest. Nothing can stop them. For his choreography, Zora Snake was inspired by the mighty lianas of the forests of Cameroon. Like the lianas in the forest, this dance piece grows and winds its way across the stage. It fights against the injustices of our modern capitalist world, against the exploitation of nature and the eradication of living environments. Music and movement merge into a powerful expression against oppression and destruction - loud and unstoppable. The dancers' bodies become a mouthpiece for solidarity and renewal. Movements from hip-hop, contemporary dance and traditional Cameroonian dances combine to create a collective ritual. An evening full of power and poetry that transforms the stage into a place of encounter.

Dance performance by Zora Snake. Introduction 30 minutes before the start of the performance. Followed by an artist talk and Krach & Wonne. A production by Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles. In co-production with Charleroi Danse, Riksteatern Stockholm, South North Foundation, Julidans Amsterdam, One Dance Festival Plovdiv, Theater Freiburg, Manège Maubeuge and others. With the support of Institut Français Cameroon.
