Duration

The workshop lasts a good 2.5 hours with a short break in the middle while we wait for the workpieces to harden.

Good to know

I will provide work aprons and gloves. Comfortable clothing that can take a beating is helpful. You do not need any previous knowledge.

The material is water-based, without harmful VOCs, UV-resistant, fire- and heat-resistant.

Procedure

In this workshop you will create a terrazzo object and become familiar with the versatile material Jesmonite. You will have a large selection of different terrazzo chips.

You will put together your own individual terrazzo mixture, mix it with the base material and pour it into a mold. You have a choice of different silicone molds:

• Bowls, such as the "Pool Bowls" for jewelry and soaps

• "Drop" coasters and trays

• as well as various coasters in round, square and hexagonal shapes

• Cachepots for offshoots and succulents

During the workshop, I will share my basic knowledge of casting and guide you through the color selection process with my expertise.

After 20 minutes, the clay has hardened and you can remove your object from the mold. Finally, you will sand the surface and work out the terrazzo. After you have sealed the object to make it food-safe, you can take your workpiece home with you.
