In this workshop, we combine the terrazzo look with painterly, experimental design processes. The starting point is working with the material Jesmonite - a sustainable, versatile, mineral casting material - which is used not only for classic terrazzo structures, but also for free, gestural color compositions.
After an introduction to the material, colors and technique, the focus is on the playful use of pigments, movements and layering. Inspired by painterly working methods (e.g. gestural applications of paint in the style of Jackson Pollock - in a small format), individual surfaces are created that oscillate between design object and artistic expression.
In addition to smaller objects such as small bowls or coasters, decorative or artistic plates can also be created. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as for participants with previous experience. All materials will be provided.
The finished work can be taken home at the end of the workshop after it has hardened.
Location: Areal Böhler, Building 02
