As part of PURPLE - International Dance Festival for Young Audiences
The piece, which means "The cat who wanted to change her destiny", is a captivating dance puppet show for all ages, inspired by a traditional Sanskrit tale from India.
This unique production explores the themes of friendship, trust and the human condition - told through the lives of four unusual roommates: a cat, an owl, a lizard and a mouse. In the shade of the tangled roots of a banyan tree, predator and prey have found a fragile coexistence - until a trap set by the hunter captures the cat. With the promise of peace, the mouse frees the cat, but struggles with her mistrust of her new ally. In the end, the mouse himself is caught by the owl - such are the laws of nature. But then the puppets decide to give the story a new twist.
The performance captivates with an impressive puppet show in which each character is brought to life by four versatile performers. A modular stage set, complemented by video projections of the banyan tree, creates a poignant experience. Accompanied by an Indian-inspired soundtrack, a poetic play of animal hierarchies, the dramatic encounter with the hunter and the mouse's courageous act of rescue unfolds.
A Thomas Noone Dance production in cooperation with the Grec Festival, Barcelona with the kind support of ICEC, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Institut Ramon Llull.
