In Guangzhou in the 1940s: 72 poor families live in an old backyard and are put under pressure by the tyrannical landlord Bing-Gen and corrupt policemen. Together they fight back against evictions and corruption. The film is based on the Shanghai slapstick play of the same name and was produced by Zhujiang Film Factory and Hong Kong Hongtu Film.
