The cross-section of works by Hans Zimmer and John Williams promises a spirited cascade of very different emotional worlds: from tenderly melting, flattering romanticism to powerful, warlike rhythms and spherical, fantastic excursions into other galaxies. Concertgoers will embark on such a journey on Sunday, December 21, 2025 in the Dreiländerhalle Passau - with "The Music of Hans Zimmer & John Williams"!
Great cinematic moments are always associated with great emotions, which are captured and intensified by the music - and which leave a deep impression on the listener. The most successful productions in film history show this: It is above all the music that stays in the mind. The musical layer of beloved film classics is, as it were, their soul. The right sounds make our hair stand on end during horror scenes or bring tears to our eyes during sad scenes. Everyone has the melodies of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in their ears! The two are undoubtedly among the most famous composers of our time and their work has had a decisive influence on film music in the 20th and 21st centuries: The unforgettable melodies from "Star Wars", "Harry Potter" and "Gladiator" or "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Indiana Jones" inevitably transport us to other universes.
It is no surprise that John Williams has been nominated 54 (!) times for an Oscar - an unprecedented world record! He has taken home the trophy five times. Hans Zimmer, on the other hand, received his first Oscar for the music to the film "The Lion King" and his most recent for his music to "Dune".
The Czech Symphony Orchestra, which specializes in film music and has recorded countless Hollywood scores, will perform this evening under the musical direction of Franz Bader.
