The Unknown Flesh - An intermedia performance that explores gender diversity with AI.

Three performers move through the gender categories of male, female and diverse and explore how AI understands gender diversity.
"The Unknown Flesh" is an intermedia performance that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make the concept of gender tangible in a new way. Inspired by the aesthetics of digital games, an immersive experiential space is created in which traditional gender categories are questioned and transformed into an individual relationship between the performers.

As a "Relaxed Performance", "The Unknown Flesh" aims to welcome all visitors for whom sitting still for long periods in the theater is a barrier (for example, people with autism, Tourette's, learning difficulties or chronic pain). Noises and movements from the audience are expressly welcome. Visitors can leave and return to the performance space at any time. The performance uses a projection screen whose brightness is adjusted for a pleasant and accessible atmosphere - without flickering light effects or extreme volume.

About the collective
The Queere Theater Kollektiv consists of queer artists and amateur actors who produce theater projects that question social norms and make queerness artistically and aesthetically visible. Based in Dortmund, the collective works across disciplines and combines expertise from digital and performing arts, computer and social sciences as well as queer and discrimination-sensitive approaches to open up new perspectives on gender, identity and technology.
