The young nomadic couple Davaa and Zaya live with their four children in the Mongolian steppe and look after their animals. In the evenings, the children tell each other ghost stories while Davaa tries to protect his herd from wolves. When the family's camp is hit by a violent sandstorm, in which half of their animals die, they make the brave decision to move to the city and look for work there. The film interweaves documentary scenes with dream sequences and moments recreated together with Davaa and Zaya. The result is a sensitive and visually rich narrative about the loss of one's own world and the challenge of starting all over again without losing oneself.
