Theateraufführung: „Die Frauen von Mandsworth Hall“ von Susanne Fuß

1921, aristocratic residence in rural England. The war has changed both the social order and the position of women in society. The daughters of the landlord, Lord Exeter, are searching for their identity and a new role as women.

While the eldest lesbian daughter Charlotte tries in vain to escape her parents' marriage plans, the younger daughter searches for her true love beyond the boundaries of her station. Meanwhile, the maid Clara has succumbed to the charms of a man who seems completely out of reach for her.

Emotional scenes and trenchant dialogues bring to life the contrasting worlds of the nobility and the servants, whose boundaries are increasingly dissolving. The play is reminiscent in style of "The House at Eaton Place" and "Downton Abbey".

The project was funded by the district council and the City of Essen's Department of Culture. Susanne Fuss is the author of the play, which will be performed for the first time in 2022. The director is Kay Winter. Jenny van der Horst has taken over the overall management. The performance rights are held by Theaterbörse GmbH.
