Even the afterlife is no longer what it used to be. Master painter Wilhelm Holme is forced to realize this when he arrives there to his own complete surprise.

But who would expect such a flood of bureaucratic nonsense on the way to the Garden of Eden? Even annoyed archangels, who have to hand out flyers advertising the kingdom of heaven in front of the gates of heaven, and a devil with a burnout do not necessarily correspond to the prevailing ideas.

It takes some time for Wilhelm to realize where he actually is and what it is all about. He is facing a trial because his wife has requested that he be transferred to hell...
